Authoritarian parents enforce rules without much explanation or negotiation ('because I said so'). Authoritative parents balance firmness with warmth and discuss expectations as a family. Attachment parenting emphasizes staying physically close to a primary caregiver early on and tends to avoid cry-it-out sleep training. Permissive parents are lenient, stepping in mainly for serious problems and acting more like a friend than an authority figure. Free-range parents emphasize independence suited to a child's ability, which the post says can build resilience.
